Assoc. Prof. Dr. Meryem Merve Ören Çelik graduated from Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine in 2011 and completed her specialty training in the Department of Public Health at the same institution. She has continued her academic career at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine, where she currently serves as a faculty member in the Department of Public Health.
Her academic work focuses on public health, preventive healthcare, epidemiology, health behaviors, health services research, and health policy. Her research in tobacco control and smoking cessation examines the effectiveness of services provided by smoking cessation clinics, the clinical and behavioral factors influencing individuals’ efforts to quit smoking, and epidemiological trends in tobacco use. Healthcare professionals’ knowledge of and attitudes toward electronic cigarettes are also among her research interests.
