Prof. Dr. Belma Koçer Gümüşel

Prof. Dr. Belma Koçer-Gümüşel graduated from Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy in 1990 and completed her master’s and doctoral studies in Pharmaceutical Toxicology at the same university. She subsequently conducted postdoctoral research on oxidative stress biology and nucleic acid damage at Joseph Fourier University and the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) in Grenoble, France.

Throughout her academic career, she served as a faculty member, Vice Dean, and Head of the Department of Pharmaceutical Toxicology at Hacettepe University Faculty of Pharmacy. She later worked at Lokman Hekim University Faculty of Pharmacy, where she served as a faculty member, Head of the Department, and Dean. She currently serves as a faculty member in the Department of Pharmaceutical Toxicology at Istanbul Okan University Faculty of Pharmacy.

Prof. Dr. Koçer-Gümüşel has held the title of European Registered Toxicologist since 2011 and was certified as a Fellow of the Academy of Toxicological Sciences in 2024. She has served on national and international scientific advisory boards and has authored 150 scientific articles and nearly 250 conference presentations. Through her work with the Smoking and Cessation Behaviors Academy, she contributes her scientific expertise in toxicology to the Academy’s multidisciplinary studies.
