Professor of Public Health

Prof. Dr. G. Nurhan İnce is a professor in the Department of Public Health at Istanbul University, Istanbul Faculty of Medicine. She served as Deputy Chief Physician of the Faculty from 2012 to 2014 and as Istanbul Provincial Director of Public Health from 2014 to 2016. In 2016, she was appointed Vice President of the Public Health Institution of Türkiye (THSK). She is one of the key figures who have contributed to the development of healthy living policies in Türkiye.

Under her leadership, significant efforts were made to ensure that current scientific knowledge was rapidly incorporated into preventive healthcare practices within Istanbul’s primary healthcare system, which includes more than 4,000 family physicians. She also pioneered the expansion of exercise-based programs for the prevention of chronic diseases.

During her tenure, Prof. Dr. İnce played a critical role in the design and nationwide implementation of Healthy Living Centers. She coordinated national programs through which family physicians and physical education teachers received training in exercise prescription and schoolchildren were provided with physical activity and fitness report cards.

In academia, she teaches epidemiology, immunization strategies, disaster health, and occupational health. She also conducts numerous research and education projects focusing on exercise, physical activity, obesity, and cardiovascular diseases. Through her executive experience and academic work, Prof. Dr. G. Nurhan İnce promotes a culture of active living and is recognized as one of Türkiye’s prominent public health figures in the prevention of chronic diseases.
