Despite all prevention and cessation efforts, smoking remains one of the major risk factors threatening public health.
To support clinicians working in this field in accessing up-to-date scientific information, to create a collaborative environment where they can share their field experiences, and to enhance the effectiveness of smoking cessation services, Health Promotion and Health Policy Association has established Smoking & Cessation Behaviors Academy under its umbrella.
Smoking & Cessation Behaviors Academy was established by the Health Promotion and Health Policy Association pursuant to Board of Directors Resolution No. 0222 dated May 15, 2026.
The Academy aims to support the translation of scientific knowledge into daily practice by addressing smoking and smoking cessation behaviors from the perspectives of public health, behavioral sciences, and clinical applications.
Within the scope of the Academy, it is planned to develop training programs, webinars, guidelines, and practical tools for clinicians. In this context, the Smoking Cessation Leadership Program, which will be implemented, is designed as a comprehensive development program aimed at strengthening participants’ scientific knowledge, communication skills, and field applications. The Academy also aims to contribute to sustainable knowledge production and professional development in the field of smoking cessation by establishing a professional community structure that encourages the sharing of experiences.
